![]() "For people in cities and towns across America, there is a huge payoff for planting trees, including long-term economic, social and environmental benefits." So begins the introduction of a new website that plants a seed of awareness and provides support materials for tree advocates. CommunityTrees.org is a non-profit, public/private partnership dedicated to encouraging green space development in cities and towns ... where planting really pays off. The only thing missing is you. Free downloadable artwork, logos, bumper sticker, T-shirt designs and more are available on the Internet through the tree awareness campaign at http://www.communitytrees.org/. This free material is provided by the National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council (NUCFAC) and the USDA Forest Service. NUCFAC is a 15-member committee created by the 1990 Farm Bill to provide advice to the United States Secretary of Agriculture on urban and community forestry. Springtime advertisements ran in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Time magazine and throughout May on National Public Radio. Check to confirm that your organization has been listed as a local resource for folks that want to get involved. If you're not there, a form has been provided to add your information.
